Eagle Rock Entertainment releases Pink Floyd: The Story Of Wish You Were Here on Blu-ray and DVD for Floyd fans to enjoy. The 85-minute documentary will be broadcast in the UK on June 25, 2012 and in the US on June 26, 2012. It aired in March 2012 on VH1 in the US and will be available for everyone's enjoyment on DVD.
Wish You Were Here is the second favorite album of Pink Floyd fans released the very good second album to Dark Side of the Moon, according to the Big Pink Floyd survey of Pink Floyd's best albums. The 1975 album was written on the road by Roger Waters during the tour of Dark Side of the Moon in the United States and is one of the highlights of the band's history. Here is an excellent news that the release of this DVD to add to our already complete collection since the releases of the Immersion boxes in recent months.
The documentary tells the story of making Wish You Were Here with new first-hand interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason. There is also archive material before the disappearance of Richard Wright. No DVD of Pink Floyd DVDs without Storm Thorgerson and we will also see an appearance of singer Roy Harper, who, of course, sang Have A Cigar on the album as a voice with Roger who could not comfortably reach the high notes in the song.
An interesting feature of the DVD is Brian Humphries, the original sound engineer of Wish You Were Here, revisiting the album in Abbey Road Studios showing us how the recording of the album was developed. From the soundtracks of the album, we get to hear the stages of building songs.
